שמו הבוטני של הצמח נקרא על שם תשוקתו וסבלו של ישו, עקב דמיון התפרחת לכלי התשוקה השונים ששימשו לצליבתו (כתר הקוצים, חנית, מסמרים).

שעונית הינה צמח רב-שנתי מטפס. מוצאו במזרח ומרכז ארה״ב. 

שעונית מותרת לשיווק בישראל.

טמפרטורה: ניטראלי, קריר.

לחות: יבש.

טעם: מעט מריר.

 

רכיבים פעילים עיקריים

פלבונואידים (vitexin, isovitexin, apigenin, luteolin, kaempferol, quercetin, rutin), גליקוזידים ציאנוגנטיים (gynocardin).

*כמו כן, שעונית עלולה להכיל כמויות מזעריות של אלקלואידים אינדולים (harman, harmol, harmine). חומרים אלה אינם תורמים לפעילות הצמח, אך עלולים לגרום לרעילות.

 

התוויות

חרדה, הפרעות שינה (אינסומניה), לחץ דם גבוה, תסמונת המעי הרגיש (IBS), כאב.

 

מינונים

תמצית נוזלית בריכוז 1:3, 45% אלכוהול – 5-25 מ״ל ביום.

תמצית יבשה – תלוי בריכוז התמצית; מינון השווה ל- 1.5-6 גרם צמח ביום.

חליטה – 4-15 גרם ביום.

בפורמולה – 20-30%.
