שמו העממי של הצמח נובע מהבחנה בעוררות מינית מוגברת של עזים וכבשים לאחר שאכלו אפימדיום במרעה.
אפימדיום הינו צמח רב-שנתי עשבוני; מוצאו בסין וקוריאה.
אפימדיום מותר לשיווק בישראל.
מונוגרף זה מתייחס למינים: E. sagittatum, E. grandiflorum, E. brevicornum.
